Cropping

Here are the things we learned!!!

The rule of thirds is applied by aligning a subject with the guide lines and their intersection points, placing the horizon on the top or bottom line, or allowing linear features in the image to flow from section to section.

Rule of thirds

If an image is exactly the same on both sides (like a human face) it is symmetrical. This is formal balance. . Informal. Pictures may be asymmetrical and still have balance

Balance

Leading lines are lines within an image that leads the eye to another point in the image, or occasionally, out of the image. Anything with a definite line can be a leading line. Fences, bridges, even a shoreline can lead the eye.

Leading lines

The simplicity rule directs that you should keep the items in your photo relatively simple. If your main subject is close to the lens, then your background should be very simple in order to avoid distractions. Another good idea is to avoid objects or lines that lead the eye away from your main subject.

Simplicity

The framing rule directs that using natural surroundings mindfully can add more meaning and focus to your subject. The surroundings could be anything such as bushes, windows, trees or even a doorway. When using this rule be sure to focus on the main subject and not on the surroundings that are framing it. It is also a good idea to use a narrow aperture (high f/stop) when using this rule in order to create a high depth-of-field

Framing

In photography, a merger refers to a situation where an object in the background seems to be merged into the focus subject. A merger also occurs when your subject's body is cut off the edge of the image. Distracting objects that are too close to the subject could also characterize a merger.

Avoiding mergers

Symmetry in photography is creating an image which can be divided in two (either horizontally or vertically) equal parts where both the parts of the image look same or at least similar. Either of the parts can be a mirror.

Symmetry

It's the angle from which you take a picture, or the distance from which you take it.

View point

a dimension taken through an object or body of material, usually downward from an upper surface, horizontally inward from an outer surface, or from top to bottom of something regarded as one of several layers.

Create depth

in the printing, graphic design and photography industries, cropping[1] refers to removing unwanted areas from a photographic or illustrated image. One of the most basic photo manipulation processes, it is performed in order to remove an unwanted subject or irrelevant detail from a photo, change its aspect ratio.

cropping

How i will use graphic design in the future.

Graphic design is really use full in a bunch of jobs

Its a really good class to get into at the beginning of the year i thought it was stupid but a lot of the things i learned have been put to use not just in class but at home.

When i grow up i want to be a vet and a photographer i always loved taking pictures and getting in this class makes me not want to stop i used to take pictures not knowing what I'm doing but now i think about all the compositions and how to make the picture look better.

Graphic design will always be apart of my life in some way, even if it doesn't want to.

My favorite newspaper is because it has a lot of information and i like the way its set up.

  • The paper is from Sioux Falls, South Dakota USA
  • my favorite headline is After sure death im here today, i like this headline because its inspirational
What do you notice that all newspaper front pages have in common? Look at design, size of photos, size of story text, etc. Well they all have a main headline and many sub headlines.

What are things that vary (or are different) on the front pages of different newspapers? Look at design, size of photos, size of headlines, etc.
